21 cuerdas


21 cuerdas the independently produced album of traditional and popular West African music. The album was published in 2010 and includes five songs with a total duration of 30:26 minutes. The main instrument is the traditional twenty-one-string kora (West African harp) and voice.

The artist Yerko Lorca performs three local songs sung in bambara: “Kaira”, “Jaliyaa” and “Kelefaba”. The popular song “Jarabí” is an instrumental version learned in the home of Toumani Diabaté. The last song, entitled “Octarina”, is an instrumental song and was the first song to be composed by the artist.
